Business Banking Security Resources
Please contact our Cash Management Team for more information about any of these security features available from Midwest BankCentre.
ACH Block and Filter Service - ACH Block and Filter seeks to eliminate the potential for the posting of unauthorized electronic transactions. As a user of ACH Block and Filter, you can block any of the following types of transactions: Internet (WEB), consumer-to-business (PPD), business-to-business (CCD) and telephone (TEL). Following the decision to block one or more of the transaction types, your account automatically rejects all transactions of the selected type; thus protecting you from losses due to fraud. If you provide the Bank with a list of approved ACH debit or credit transactions, we can block any unauthorized transactions to your account by utilizing our ACH filter.
Positive Pay - This service lets you control which checks are paid from your business checking account. Used to reduce fraud, this risk-reduction strategy effectively blocks all checks from being paid on your account without your prior approval. To streamline your approval process, Internet Banking is required, as you’ll simply indicate which checks are approved for payment.
IP Restrict - When connected to the internet your computer has a clearly identifiable, numeric address, or IP address, consisting of four sequences of digits that are separated by periods. When you provide us with your computer’s unique address, this new fraud protection feature will only allow access from computers you designate as authorized users.
Security Tokens - A security token is a physical device that an authorized user of computer services is given for authentication. The token is similar in size to a key chain or key fob. Security tokens are used to prove your identity electronically (as in the case of a customer trying to access their bank account). The token acts like an electronic key for access, displaying a new access code number every 30 seconds. Security tokens (provided by RSA Security, Inc.) are as simple to use as entering a password, but much more secure. (Note: $25 annual charge per token. For optimal security, when using a secure token, do not log in more than three consecutive times within three minutes.)
Time Restrict - This is a security feature for online banking users and its purpose is to block user logins outside of specified hours of the day.
Alert Messages - Through our Online Banking you can set up approximately 20 different types of alerts including account balance limits, electronic deposit notification, etc. This will give you up to the minute notification of transactions being processed on your account.
Limited Use Computer - It is a good idea to designate one computer at your business for online banking only and to manage email and other online activies from another computer.
